Last summer, the chairlifts at Deer Valley Resort stayed still. Trail crews cut new ski runs, poured concrete for the East Village Express Gondola, and left the bike park closed while machines reshaped the terrain. If you live in Deer Valley, you already know that: you watched it happen from your deck. What you may not have registered is how many of those winter changes have quietly rewritten what a Deer Valley summer weekend looks like in 2026.
This is not the same season repackaged. The bike park is back after a full year off. The Fire & Flavor Festival grew from one weekend to five. A Hilton opens near the end of July at the base of Deer Crest. And in September, a national championship series lands on Bald Eagle Mountain for the first time. Here is the honest, resident's read on what is on the calendar between now and closing weekend.
The bike park reopened, and it feels different
Summer operations at the resort run June 19 through September 20, 2026, with a passholder preview weekend June 13 and 14. If you were here last summer, that timeline itself is the news, because there was no lift-served riding to schedule around.
The resort, which halted mountain biking operations last year, is ready to welcome bikers once more to its trails. Trail crews spent the spring rebuilding what construction disrupted. One crew member noted that ski run construction eliminated about a quarter mile of the Tidal Wave trail's meadow section, leaving them to redesign and put features back in. Opening day was set for June 13, and one factor worked in the crews' favor: lower snowpack and earlier melt allowed workers to begin projects roughly three weeks ahead of schedule, particularly on the upper mountain, where terrain has not historically opened until a few weeks into the season.
The practical read for someone who rides here twice a week:
- Access lifts remain Silver Lake Express at Snow Park, plus Sterling Express and Homestake Express at mid-mountain.
- The resort still runs nearly 60 miles of mountain bike trails across six mountains, with up to 3,000 vertical feet of elevation change and four flow trails designed by Gravity Logic.
- The expert-level Tsunami flow trail is the marquee addition. It carries 10-foot berms and jumps and 25-foot table tops and step downs.
- New terrain under construction near the East Village expansion will largely focus on cross-country riding.
Twilight Wednesdays are back on the schedule this year, which for locals is the quiet answer to the weekend crowds. If you have never ridden Deer Valley on a weeknight after 5 p.m., this is the summer to try it.
Five weekends of live-fire cooking, not one
The Fire & Flavor Festival at Silver Lake made its debut last summer as a single event. This year it has been reprogrammed as a five-weekend series in July and August, which changes the calculus for anyone deciding whether to drive up the hill on a Saturday. Admission is free with the purchase of a $10 lift ticket from Snow Park, and one child rides free per paying adult.

The event lives at Silver Lake, which means you can ride Silver Lake Express up with your family, eat lunch outside, and be back down before the afternoon thunderstorms come off Bald Mountain. Deer Valley's VP of Food & Beverage Jacob Musyt described the series as one piece of a broader summer culinary program that also includes the Creative Academy classes and the Taste of Luxury dinners with Chef Clément Gelas and Chef Ryan Arensdorf.
The concert lawn this July and August
The Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater carries two overlapping series each summer. The Deer Valley Music Festival, presented by the Utah Symphony, celebrates its 22nd season this summer, and the Deer Valley Concert Series is produced in partnership with The State Room Presents. The 2026 Music Festival runs July 17 through August 15.
A few dates worth blocking off if you live within walking distance of Snow Park:
- July 17 and 18: Beethoven's Ninth, conducted by incoming Utah Symphony Music Director Designate Markus Poschner in his festival debut.
- July 25: Stravinsky's Firebird Suite with the Grammy-winning string trio Time for Three, performing a concerto written for them by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Kevin Puts.
- August 1: Chris Botti with the Utah Symphony.
- August 7: A complete concert performance of Chicago with Broadway vocalists, a festival first.
- August 8: Idina Menzel returning to the Snow Park lawn.
- August 14: Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue with St. Paul & The Broken Bones on the Concert Series side.
- August 15: A closing tribute to Celine Dion.
Chamber concerts run on Wednesdays at St. Mary's Catholic Church, opening July 22 with Poschner conducting an all-Mozart program including the "Jupiter" Symphony. Local acts play the Silver Lake lawn Friday through Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. through mid-September, in collaboration with Mountain Town Music, which is the low-effort version of a Deer Valley summer afternoon: a chair, a beer, and a band.
East Village keeps unfolding, and July matters
If you live on the Deer Crest side, the base at the bottom of the Jordanelle Express Gondola looks different every month right now. Canopy by Hilton Deer Valley, the latest hotel from Extell at Deer Valley East Village, is set to open as soon as the end of July. It is the first Utah location for Hilton's Canopy brand and the third hotel to open in the village after Grand Hyatt Deer Valley and Pioche Village.
Four dining venues open with the hotel. Executive Chef Scott Rackliff, whose résumé includes Pacific Hospitality Group's Meritage Collection and Michelin-starred restaurants such as Eleven Madison Park in New York City, moved to Park City from Huntington Beach. The upstairs concept leans rustic American with a-frame ceilings and a large vintage fireplace. Rackliff has described a menu that plays with bison, elk on specials, and a duck confit sandwich on a pretzel bun. The kitchen has budding partnerships with local purveyors including PaMaw's Organic Farm in Daniel and Heber Valley Artisan Cheese. Reservations are open for stays starting August 16.
For residents, the useful part is not the hotel itself. It is that the East Village side of the mountain now has a dinner reservation option that does not require driving back over to Snow Park or Main Street.
September isn't the wind-down it used to be
For years, September at Deer Valley meant weekend-only lift service and a slow drift into ski prep. This year, September has two anchors.
The Fox US Open of Mountain Biking, the final stop of the Official US National Mountain Bike Championship series, will be staged on the resort's Bald Eagle Mountain September 11 through 13, 2026. Three days of pro, youth, and adaptive competition inside the town you live in. If you have never watched a national-caliber downhill race, the sound of it alone is worth the walk from the parking lot.
One week later, the 5th Annual Deer Valley Mountain Beer Festival returns September 19 and 20, featuring scenic chairlift access, outdoor dining, live music and family activities alongside a curated selection of Utah craft beers, with tickets on sale at deervalley.com in June. Beer Fest sits on closing weekend of the summer season, which makes it a natural bookend.
The Deer Valley table, without leaving the mountain
A quick tour of what is open, because the mountain restaurants shift seasonally and it is not always obvious from the base.
Deer Valley Café at Snow Park Plaza runs daily 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with lakeside patio seating, an easy default for a weekday breakfast or grab-and-go lunch.
Royal Street Café at Silver Lake Lodge, mid-mountain, reopens June 26, serving daily from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with creative American and international cuisine on the scenic deck. Ride Silver Lake Express up, eat, come back down.
RIME at the St. Regis Deer Valley launches its Summer Sunday Brunch June 21, 2026, and runs it Sundays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the summer at $85 per adult and $30 per child, with live music on the patio. Chef Matthew Fradera also runs a Farm Dinners series pulling directly from Park City Farmers Market purveyors, with 40 seats per dinner.
Savor the Summit on Main Street returned June 27, 2026, for an evening of open-air dining, opening with a social hour of Laurent-Perrier champagne and appetizers before Deer Valley's culinary team prepared a three-course dinner around an eight-foot paella pan of squid ink rice with lobster, razor clams, octopus and shrimp, paired with Duckhorn Vineyards wines. If you missed it, calendar it for June 2027.
The through line: three years ago, "summer at Deer Valley" meant a chairlift, a hike, and maybe a concert. This year it means a working bike park, five festival weekends, a national championship, a new hotel, and a Sunday brunch. The mountain got bigger last winter. It also got busier in July.
